\"magvet\u0151<\/a>Magvet\u0151 has become synonymous with sophisticated books and literature, and the publication of great moments of the culture of human language. In addition to the works of Hungary\u2019s Nobel Prize winner, Imre Kert\u00e9sz, Magvet\u0151 publishes great and influential writers such as P\u00e1l Z\u00e1vada, P\u00e9ter Esterh\u00e1zy, Gy\u00f6rgy Spir\u00f3, \u00c1d\u00e1m Bodor, Zsuzsa Rakovszky, Lajos Parti Nagy, Istv\u00e1n Szil\u00e1gyi, \u00c1d\u00e1m N\u00e1dasdy, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznahorkai and L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Bert\u00f3k. Magvet\u0151 also publishes the works of the next generation of great writers, including the poems and novels of L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Darvasi, Gy\u00f6rgy Dragom\u00e1n, Mari Falcsik, No\u00e9mi Kiss, Kriszti\u00e1n Grecs\u00f3, Centauri<\/span>, Zsolt Nagy Kopp\u00e1ny, Vir\u00e1g Erd\u0151s, G\u00e1bor Vida, Tam\u00e1s J\u00f3n\u00e1s, Krisztina T\u00f3th, D\u00e1niel Varr\u00f3, Ferenc Barn\u00e1s, Attila Bartis, \u00c9va B\u00e1nki, \u00c9va Berniczky, Anna Szab\u00f3 T. Being published by Magvet\u0151 is a prestigious honour for Hungarian authors. The works of contemporary writers such as P\u00e9ter Esterh\u00e1zy, Gy\u00f6rgy Spir\u00f3, P\u00e1l Z\u00e1vada and Zsuzsa Rakovszky are regularly included in the top lists of many literary circles, and they sell tens of thousands of copies. Imre Kert\u00e9sz\u2019 novel, Fateless, has sold more copies than any other book in recent Hungarian history.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Hungarian classics, we continue to publish the oeuvre series of G\u00e9za Cs\u00e1th, Ott\u00f3 Orb\u00e1n, Gy\u00f6rgy Petri, Mikl\u00f3s Szentkuthy, G\u00e9za Ottlik, Gy\u00f6rgy Kardos G., S\u00e1ndor L\u00e9n\u00e1rd and Antal Szerb. Since the 1960s, we have published two annual compilations: Panorama (K\u00f6rk\u00e9p) and Fine Poetry (Sz\u00e9p versek) for the Book Week Festival, carefully editing into single volumes the best works of literature from the preceding year. We have\u00a0 revived the annual compilation, Rivalda, that includes the best dramas of the year. We also publish remarkable essay collections from authors such as P\u00e9ter Gy\u00f6rgy, Andr\u00e1s Nagy and Gy\u00f6rgy Poszler.<\/span><\/p>\n

While our main profile is the publication of contemporary Hungarian poetry and prose, we could call Frank McCourt, Cormac McCarthy, Thomas Pynchon, Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez, Michel Houellebecq, Anna Gavalda, or Ter\u00e9zia Mora \u201cresident authors\u201d. In 2004 we began to publish classics of world literature in our White Crow Books \u2013 Magvet\u0151 Classics series. These included the various works of Faulkner, Maupassant, Turgenev, Goethe, Lawrence, Stanis\u0142aw Lem, Steinbeck, Chekhov, Dickens, Alain-Fournier, Heinrich Mann, Ajar, Flaubert, Nabokov, Dreiser. We believe that these works should be on the bookshelves of every well-informed family \u2013 however, they were unavailable for a longtime in bookshops, sometimes even in second-hand ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are especially proud of the numerous prestigious awards that our Authors and Group members have earned.<\/span>
\nIn 2002, Imre Kert\u00e9sz became the first Hungarian to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Magvet\u0151 has published his works since the nineteen-nineties.<\/span>
\nThe prestigious annual Hungarian Literature Prize has been awarded to Magvet\u0151 authors: P\u00e9ter Esterh\u00e1zy in 2000, \u00c1d\u00e1m Bodor and Istv\u00e1n Szil\u00e1gyi in 2001, Zsuzsa Rakovszky in 2002 and Lajos Parti Nagy in 2003. Gy\u00f6rgy Spir\u00f3 received the Aegon Art Prize in 2006 (this award has replaced the annual Hungarian Literature Prize), and the Artisjus Literary Grand Prize in 2012.\u00a0 Kriszti\u00e1n Grecs\u00f3 was awarded the the Aegon Art Prize in 2012, \u00c1rp\u00e1d Kun in 2014.<\/span>
\nA book by L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Darvasi and D\u00e1niel Varr\u00f3 was awarded Children\u2019s Book of the Year and Istv\u00e1n Lakatos\u2019 Dobozv\u00e1ros \u2013 Boxville \u2013 was also given the Children\u2019s Book of the Year 2011 award. The Budapest Grand Prize was awarded to Imre Kert\u00e9sz in 1997. Several of our authors have been awarded the Kossuth Prize, the highest state level acknowledgement of achievement in Hungary, and other prestigious awards from the state for service to the arts. <\/span><\/p>\n

Magvet\u0151 became Publisher of the Year in 2003, 2006, and following many successful years as first runner up, in 2010, 2011 and 2013.<\/span>
